Navalgund dhurries are floor covering mats that are widely used during marriages and functions and in households during occasions. Navalgund dhurries (cotton dhurries) are well known for their excellence in quality, their structure, originality of colour and form that makes them unique from other types of floor coverings mats.

Navalagunda Jamkhanas (Dhurrie) weaving is done on a vertical loom locally called khadav magga which means vertical or upright loom in a town named Navalgund.

Sometimes, the weaving is done with 2 women facing each other which is a social and wonderful way to work. The designs include geometric shapes, animals, and birds such as peacock as the Navalagunda or Navalgund means-“hill of the peacock”.

The carpets have been named after the designs on the carpet that are distinguished based on the number of a particular design such as the number of peacocks.

These Jamkhanas are available in different sizes and designs(patterns)as described below.

• Tottale Jamkhana:

It is the smallest of Jamkhanas of 1.5x1.5 feet area, with the square at the centre filled with geometrical forms, serrated edges and flanked by horizontal stripes on either end.

• Phool Jamkhana:

A floor covering which has big geometrical flowers at the centre and borders at two ends.

• Mor Jamkhanas (Char Mor):

Has a 4 peacock at the centre.

• Pagadi Ate (traditional Indian dice game):

The layout of the board is at the centre, which serves the purpose of playing and offering the positions to sit.

• Guddar:
